A Regional Initiative for Gender-Responsive Land and Climate Action
The innovative regional event “Women in Agriculture Facing Climate Change,” was held in Amman and Cairo during November 2025. It aimed at strengthening regional coordination, enhancing women’s leadership in rural and agricultural systems, and advancing gender-responsive land and climate action. The initiative, aligned with ILC EMENA priorities on inclusive land governance, women’s land rights, and climate resilience, was led by ILC member the Palestinian Farmers Union in collaboration with Associació Catalana per la Pau (ACP), Fundació Solidaritat Universitat de Barcelona (FSUB), and Palestine Technical University Khadouri (PTUK), and regional academic and civil society actors, and contributed to reinforcing the established project ‘Climate Action Networks’ across Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, and Egypt.
This event provided an interactive platform for knowledge exchange through close collaboration with Spanish partners and institutions, supported by AECID, ACCD, and the Barcelona City Council, alongside academic cooperation with the University of Barcelona, highlighting Spain’s role in promoting Mediterranean knowledge exchange, regional solidarity, and gender-responsive climate action. In dynamic discussions, participants were divided into working groups, exchanged expertise and jointly developed potential action pathways that directly support gender-responsive climate-resilient development, regional cooperation and evidence-based advocacy.
