The PIAKOS project has strengthend awareness and access to property rights for vulnerable communities across Kosovo
Through extensive outreach, the project reached over 6,700 households and provided 1,329 free legal counseling sessions, supporting citizens in navigating property registration procedures. Public awareness increased substantially, rising from 42% to 86%, exceeding project targets. The integrated media campaign produced 97 media pieces, including a six-episode television series, podcasts, and diaspora outreach, expanding nationwide engagement on property and inheritance rights. In addition, 418 public officials were trained, and 90 property transactions were initiated, including 44 by women, contributing to improved gender equality in property ownership.
1. Launch of the Comic TV Series on Property Rights
One of the most engaging outputs of the project is the six-episode comic TV series on property rights, which addresses inheritance, ownership, and legal procedures affecting vulnerable groups. The series premiered in November 2025 and airs weekly on national television and online platforms, helping translate complex legal topics into accessible stories for the wider public.
2. Youth Engagement and Summer Camps
PIAKOS organised three youth summer camps and numerous school outreach activities, reaching over 3,400 young people across Kosovo. These activities encouraged open discussions about property rights, gender equality in inheritance, and civic engagement, including lively debates among students on girls’ inheritance rights.
3. Door-to-Door Outreach in Vulnerable Communities
Project teams conducted extensive door-to-door awareness campaigns, visiting 6,736 households across Kosovo, including families from Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian, Serbian, and other minority communities. This personalized outreach helped citizens better understand property registration procedures and available legal support services.
4. Mobile Free Legal Aid Clinic
The project supported the mobile legal aid clinic, which provided legal counseling directly in municipalities such as Obiliq, Fushë Kosovë, Graçanicë, and Mamusha, ensuring that communities with limited access to institutions receive free legal guidance on property and inheritance matters.
5. Diaspora Awareness Campaign
During the summer season, PIAKOS launched a diaspora-focused campaign, with video and radio messages broadcast at Prishtina International Airport and major public locations, encouraging Kosovars abroad to update property and inheritance records and ensure gender equality among heirs.
